left: 40px; top: 90px; width: 721px; height: 120px; z-index: 3"> <p class=style2> Cadet Flight Sergeant Matthew Prentice, of 2158 (Sevenoaks) Squadron Air Training Corps recently spent two weeks at Tayside Aviation in Dundee completing his Air Cadet Pilot Scheme Flying Scholarship, a privilege earned by only a few cadets across the country. </p> <p class=style2> Matthew was awarded this rare opportunity following his successful completion of a gliding scholarship earlier this year and his outstanding performance as a cadet, and has gone on to complete 9 hours 15 minutes of powered flying for free through the Air Cadets. After several days thwarted by weather and a broken fuel pump, he successfully complete all of the exercises required and then his course culminated in a spectacular 15 minute solo flight, where Matt, 17, took off and flew the aircraft solo around the airfield before landing again, to the resounding congratulations from the Air Traffic Control tower! </p> <p class=style2> Flight Sergeant Prentice said, after completing his solo flight: </p> <blockquote> <p class=style2>  The opportunity to go and learn to fly a fully fledged powered aircraft, for free, is amazing  this is the best thing I ve done whilst being an Air Cadet  and I ve done a lot of different things!
