Folkestone Air Cadet Escorts Lord Lieutenant

Cadet Warrant Officer Jon Tolson of 99 (Folkestone) Squadron, who is the Kent Wing Cadet of the year and Lord Lieutenants cadet for Kent, recently had the honour of escorting the Lord Lieutenant, Allan Willett, at the annual Battle of Britain memorial service at Caple le Ferne.

In addition to acting as escort to the Lord Lieutenant, CWO Tolson took part in the formal remembrance service, along with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshall Sir Glenn Torpy and the Lord Lieutenant, reading a poem written by Air Chief Marshal Sir Christopher Foxley-Norris.

CWO Tolson said; "I was both very pleased and extremely honoured to represent Kent Wing at this prestigious event and to do so in such distinguished company". The event which is an annual event in the Royal Air Force calendar, was attended by several hundred people and included a fly past and display by a Spitfire and Hurricane of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
