2158 (Sevenoaks) Squadron First Jump Course

Earlier this year, 2158 Squadron organised a parachuting first jump course for cadets from Kent Wing. A total of 10 cadets and staff attended and completed their training; unfortunately bad weather prevented them from completing their jump.

The group returned a month later to complete their refresher training and parachute descent from 3500ft. There were a lot of smiling faces when they got down to the ground! Pilot Officer Russell Dowling, the course organiser, said ‘I was impressed with the cadets’ determination and spirit of adventure – leaving an aircraft, voluntarily, 3500ft up is no

easy task and all the cadets involved performed well. Some of the participants chose to complete some extra jumps during the weekend with the intention of continuing their training to become skydivers.’

2158 (Sevenoaks) Squadron would like to extend many thanks to the Army Parachute Association (Netheravon) who provided the instructors and a superb dropzone to jump at.
