Wing Commander Peter Ayerst DFC,
MloD, MCMI, AMRAES opening 1051 (Dartford) Squadron's new Flight Simulator.
The flight simulator was constructed by staff and cadets with monies
supplied by a local grant.
Wing Commander Ayerst [who now 87 years old] agreed with the Officer
commanding 1051 Sqn Flt Lt Keith Gordon that this was a marvellous training
aid to understanding the principles of flight.
Wg Cdr Ayerst flew Hurricanes and Spitfires from the battle for France to
the end of WW2 before going on to fly jets, finishing his career on the
English Electric Lightning.
