The venue was the Airkix wind tunnel facility at XScape Milton Keynes, on the 17th April 2007. Cadets and Staff were joined by the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team.
The presentation by the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team lasted just over half an hour, teaching the cadets about the techniques of skydiving, the equipment used and the role that wind tunnels play in the training of professional skydiving teams. The instructors spent a while teaching the cadets and staff the correct arched body position to adopt in the airflow before taking everyone up to the wind tunnel ready to fly.
When everyone had completed their first flight and experienced the feeling in the tunnel, they all went around again for a second flight. This time it was much easier; those who were stable could fly on their own with no instructor holding on to them – in some cases even the RAF Falcons joined in for a bit of tunnel time, showing us how it should be done!
